Previous Students
The students are what it is all about! As detailed on the "About KCMC" page, a shortage of trained professionals is one of the main issues that is faced in delivering healthcare to the northern Tanzania population.
At present, 80% of funding for medical school expenses are come in the form of a student loan from the Tanzanian government. If students are unable to make up the shortfall due to hardship, they cannot move on to the next year of their studies or graduate in the case of final year students. This is where FoKCMC come in as we, acting on the advice of the senior academic staff at the university, are fortunate to be able to grant funding to help with this shortfall to the most deserving students.
Below are details of the current students with their personal statements that they have sent to FoKCMC. (Please understand that cultural differences between the UK and Tanzania will mean that some writing styles and terminology may be different to what you are used to. In addition, for many Tanzanian students, English is their third language - wow! FoKCMC has not altered these statements in any way).
Details of previous students can be found here.
We are now sponsoring 27 undergraduate students on medical, nursing and allied health professional courses who would otherwise have been unable to complete their studies as they were unable to complete their student contribution to tuition fees.
